And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest." - Matthew 9:35-38
Missional Communities are small groups of people, devoted to serving one another and our community in the name of Jesus Christ. This entails weekly meetings around a meal, Bible study application, and prayer. Each group has a plan for reaching out to our community, serving in word and deed.
In determining which group to attend, consider where they meet, when they meet, and where they serve. You are free to show up on a given night to participate in dinner and discussion, but it is wise to call ahead to ensure they are meeting and not serving.
Hello! We are Kyle and Penny Burns and have been attending River City for the last 5 years. We started leading a Missional Community in October of 2016 in North Moorhead. We truly believe that being in community with other believers, discussing life with one another is vital in your walk with Christ. We hope to see you on Tuesday nights when we share a meal with one another and open up God's word and discuss the sermon from Sunday. The first Tuesday of the month we get the opportunity to serve the homeless community at an awesome ministry called Open Door 65.

We are Grant and Becky Herges and we have been leading and hosting an MC since October 2011. We have 4 children and we love that our family can serve together through our MC. Over the time our MC has been together, we have seen God move in mighty ways. He has been faithful to answer our prayers, help us grow in our faith and as a community, and use us for His kingdom purposes around the world. Our group has a mix of singles, couples, and families with kids that are a united family in Christ. On a typical night, we’ll share a meal, discuss the sermon passage, pray, and wrap up with dessert. Our MC is passionate about people from all nations coming to know the Lord and we’d love to have you join us!

Hello! We are Jody and Amy Norstedt and we have been members of River City since January of 2016. We have lead a Missional Community since May of 2016, meeting on Wednesday nights in south Moorhead at the home of Brett and Shannon Moser. We love how our group has taken on a “family feel” and value the meaningful connections we’ve established while digging deeper into God’s word and applying it to everyday life. Whether it’s lifting each other up in times of struggle and pointing them toward Christ or celebrating the work of our great God, we are there for one another. We serve once a month at the International Potluck, an event focused on bringing the community together through shared food and stories from different cultures.

We lead this Missional Community along with Jen Astrup who lives in North Fargo with her 2 roommates and her sweet dog Josie. Together we work to serve the men and women of our MC and the F/M community. We are a group of believers who seek to build a genuine community based upon the foundation of Christ. Though we come from different walks of life, we share a solid bond through the person and work of Jesus. Each week we share a meal together followed by a discussion rooted in the gospel. We meet in south Moorhead at the home of Ryan and Amy Bro.

We are Andy & Katie Doeden and we've been attending River City since June of 2015 and began leading a Missional Community in January of 2017. Our family considers it a joy to host MC on Monday nights, seeing it as a great place to practice the 'one anothers' of the Bible. We care for one another, encourage each other, equip and build one another up, and bear each other's burdens to name a few. We pray all of this is done on the foundation of the gospel, with our focus on Jesus Christ, rooted in the Bible.
We serve at the Salvation Army on the 3rd Sunday of every month, taking the following Monday off. Please join us for a meal, Biblical truth, and prayer!

Together, we care for one another while helping us all to grow in our understanding and application of the gospel. At the Salvation Army, we are honored to prepare and serve their evening meal as well as leading their chapel service. Our hope is to see more and more people in our community trust Jesus and become more like him!

We are Matt & Julia Jacques and have been attending River City Downtown for 3.5 years now. We have 3 beautiful girls, Lucy, Amelia and Edith. We love the life of the MC and and have seen how vital it is to our own spiritual growth in the time of community both in serving as well as living with one another in meals, bible study, prayer, campfires, worship nights and time outside of MC. Andrew & MacKenzie Puckett co-lead with us as well as host the group. We meet on Wednesday nights at 6:15. When you come you will find a welcoming environment where we can laugh, discuss and be real with one another. We serve at the Salvation Army every month and work with the kids there serving supper, giving a devotional and playing games with them afterward.
MC life is vital to the life of the church because this is where the ground level, real life work is done. We take the sermon from a 5000 foot level and apply it to our own lives. It is a place where people are able to share their struggles both in life and with sin as well as share the areas of rejoicing so that we might live life with each other. Our MC works hard to have a strong focus on reading the word, prayer and relationships.

We are Nathan and Morgan, and we have been involved at River City for over 5 years. We host and lead an MC in our home on Monday nights at 6pm. Our group consists of families with multiple kids, recently married couples, and singles. All our welcome to join us! We see Missional Community as vital to our growth as believers, having friends to hold us accountable and point us to the Truths of Scripture. Christ desires that we live in fellowship with one another, doing life together as we live in devotion to Him.
Our group takes the first Monday of each month off so that each family can help out in the community or reach out to those we cross paths with. We have a small dog who is very friendly and would love to meet new people, so feel free to stop by!
